SUMMARY:Sustainable AI in Practice: From Computational Costs to Real-World
 Impacts
DESCRIPTION:Contact: Claire.Mckay@med.lu.se\n\nThis event is fully booked.
The registration is closed!During Sustainability Week in Lund\, the Sustai
nability Committee at&nbsp\;Lund Stem Cell Center invites you to a public
panel discussion on artificial intelligence and sustainability.AI systems
are increasingly used in research\, healthcare\, industry and everyday lif
 e. But AI also requires large amounts of computation\, data storage and ha
rdware - all of which have environmental and energy costs. At the same tim
e\, AI has the potential to support more efficient systems\, better resour
ce use and improved decision-making.This event explores both sides.Event D

iredWe will discuss:What drives AI’s environmental footprint (compute\,
storage\, hardware)Where AI can genuinely support sustainability and when
it risks undermining itWhat responsible and resource-aware AI use looks li
ke in practiceThe programme includes short talks followed by a moderated p
anel discussion and audience Q&amp\;A. The goal is to move from general pr
inciples to actionable takeaways: what choices can researchers\, students\
, organisations and decision-makers make to reduce impact while still bene
 fiting from AI?Invited Panelists:Sophia N. Wilson\, University of Copenhag
en – resource-efficient machine learning and sustainable AIAnton Moberg\
, Heterogenous Compute Architect at Inceptron AB – efficient AI computin
 g and accelerationJonas Lindemann\, Director of LUNARC – high-performanc
e computing\, energy use and measurementThe event is open to students\, re
searchers\, professionals and members of the public interested in technolo
gy\, sustainability and responsible innovation.About the OrganizersThe eve
nt is organised by Lund Stem Cell Center &amp\; Strategic Research Area St
emTherapy\, Faculty of Medicine\, Lund University. Founded in 2003\, Lund
Stem Cell Center is a leading academic research organization advancing the
field of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine at Lund University.
Our scientific community includes 44 research groups with over 300 members
\, which established its own Sustainability Committee in 2022.&nbsp\;&nbsp
\;The event is part of Sustainability Week 2026\, which runs between 13-18
